eye exam. Got my new zenni glasses in the mail today, actually. Guy said I have a scar on my eyeball (that I'm sure I've been asked about before, and something about have I been raised around farm animals) but forgot to "get back to that." Oops. Have to schedule an appt. for some field-of-vision test or something because I still don't have glaucoma yet but probably will soon lol. My glasses are purple and pretty sweet. I might have to actually get *gasp* reading glasses or bifocals or something soon.

Thanks to my magical google-fu the gross glorps utterly destroying our lilies are actually the pupae of Red Lily Beetles. We sprayed them, killed a bunch, and finally hacked off the remaining limp flowers. Chased a few adult red beetles away (quick little bastards) so we'll see if they just come back next year, ugh.

Having an estimate done for building a deck. What we've got now is an array of concrete slabs (interspersed with weeds) and a giantass rickety concrete step, so the cost of removing that garbage may prove daunting; we'll see. Basically we just want a couple steps down that tier out, about a foot or so off the ground and one step all the way around. If we expand it by a foot or so out we will hopefully have room enough to get a wee patio table for say, 4 people AND the barbecue. The guy seemed nice (did a deck for some friends, too.) And he likes dogs!

It's supposed to be like 45 degrees the next couple days. Fuck me.

Trying to plan a Halloween costume for the ass.man's Seminar this year at Fabricland. Vetoed the slutty costume patterns, rennaissance/historical because everyone not wearing slutty wear will be wearing that. Seminars are srs bsness. And contest-y. Gonna be a mothafackin' mermaid. It's a Simplicity pattern, with peachy metallic SparkleSpangle! fabric overlaying grass green for the tail, a green satin fin with some sequins n shit, the top is peach silk with beads and sequins and shit for the bra-cup-thingies and the same green satin for the fin. Gonna hang beads and pearls and crap on it. SO I NEED A NEW WIG.

Contenders!:
Two-tone (would require some...volumizing)

Farrah bombshell (cheap, but a little short)

Blended creme (might be more useful for lolita stuff afterwards?)

about blythe May. 13th, 2011 @ 11:10 pm
so I'm still a little obsessed. I've now got Ilse and Micki (RBLs) completed, another RBL face and eyemech mostly-modded (+ a licca body) that needs a new faceup but I don't like it, and an RBL mid-mod that needs a little more sanding what I've carved. I've got a few brainworms chips for those two, as well as a couple coming from CoolCat eventually. I like odd numbers so maybe 5 would be a good number of blythes? I still want a blue-haired one for sure.
Micki!

I got skerred when doing her faceup and didn't have to balls to paint the teeth in, meh.

I wanted to make Micki something to match what I'm wearing to a lolita meetup Sunday, but with limited time and energy (LOL) I came up with this slightly MaryMagdalene inspired dress, and a pretty old-school lolita looking headthingie. I do want to add a pin-tucked bib/yoke dealie later. So basically, it just has yellow in it? XD It brings out the gold-tones in her hair and these eyechips though! Actually, now it seems it will likely pour so I don't know if I'll bother bringing her, but at least she has clothes that aren't Barbie or Azone castoffs.

(I can't find madeleine's glasses after the last doll meet, though I swear I had them afterwards)

shoes Feb. 14th, 2011 @ 11:35 pm
http://www.gravitypope.com/shoes/womens/melissa <- several sale colours in the 3-strap style, ladies! located in AB so you don't have to worry about customs ; D
Also, had just about convinced myself to buy sale pinstripe Fluevog booties...and my size is now sold out. It's an omen? Or a sign leading me to find this evil website.
Stupid clobba order arrived in Vancouver Friday, so they still probably won't get here until end of this week.
Oh yeah GOT MY BABYDRESS. $113 in customs (fuck me) but it's in my greedy little...closet. It's actually really big and I could almost take down the shoulder straps a little, but it's nice and long too. Same sort of textured material as Music Salon. I told hado I needed a black fedora to wear with it. DAMMIT I should have ordered those melissa shoes in black! I wonder how the plastic wears though; I remember being so uncomfortable in jellie shoes as a kid. I really want a pair of black RHS but I'll keep looking for a DoubleDecker order or something, because I'd like the wood soles, or at least a really nice upper.

Still need new work shoes. Winners keeps failing me. Why is it so hard to find a not-ridiculously-high-heel but non-entirely-flat shoe that is close-toed and some sort of unslippery sole? I don't want to resort to another shit-Walmart pair, but receiving boxes always knicks up my shoes so I'd rather not spend over $40.

Closet-chick Feb. 5th, 2011 @ 05:05 pm
This meme on egl really made me want to look at my own closet, in order to compare it with other "early" lolis and other people who've been dressing like this for years. I was kinda shocked by how much stuff I've accumulated, and a little annoyed with myself about how few things actually coordinate together. Poopygirl is so piecemeal you don't get a sense of the entirety. Part of the problem too is obviously not setting on a specific style subset, so my pieces run the gamut from classic to steampunk to sailor to sweet. OH WELL. Anyway,
here goes

Also, he's yellow on the reverse side. Because I didn't have enough fleece. And it's more fun. Lemonbeary Blue is his name. Pillow-fighting is his game.

DO IT RIGHT NOW. Especially because this one is featuring the fantastic raggyrat, and much as I'm dying to get one of those friggin' fantastic wheely mice (and it's actually really sweet to know the origins of the design, and almost ironic?) I also like whoring out artists. Actually, check out the Regretsy page too! (no giveaways, just awesomesauce)
